What is Faith?

What is Faith?

by  Tonya Taylor

A few years ago, I saw a fellow church member in the store. She told me the LORD told her, ""You trust Me with eternity; trust Me with today."

Our Father God has such a wonderful way of being specifically concise with His words!I adopted that God-breathed saying (based on Proverbs 3:5-6 and more), and it's helped me.

A couple years after that, the LORD also opened up my understanding to realize that (as I shared with my husband) when we sleep, we trust the LORD totally--or we'd never sleep!

So the problem is the mind. That's where the battle is. But by faith in Christ Who helps us, we overcome! We declare I Corinthians 2:16 about ourselves: We have the Mind of Christ the Anointed One: "For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart." (AMPC)

What is faith? Faith is trusting God.  Taking Him at His Word. Believing He means what He says.

There is another part to faith, I've discovered; believing that, no matter how we feel about ourselves, He will help us obey and even believe in our ability to obey, when the weak part of us is being bombarded by the enemy, and we think we can't.

Truly, we can do nothing apart from Him, and we are nothing apart from Him. But we are His precious children, Whom He loves so much He sent Jesus to die for us the most horrible death on the cross--so we could be raised to new life in Him and have abundant life (John 10:10)! Hallelujah!

Truly, He is our Strength, in every form of weakness. Hallelujah!

How is it that we have trusted in ourselves, the chair, the waterspout, supplements, and more, above the Most High High Who created and sustains us (and I'm preaching to me, not just to you!)?

Forgive us, LORD! We love You and adore You and thank You that You have given a measure of faith to every one of us, as You say in Romans 12:2-4

"2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but think of yourself with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and not all members have the same function..."  -(Berean Study Bible

Also, it occurred to me once a few years ago, we trust the LORD totally when we go to sleep--or we'd never sleep!

God's perfect Love casts out all fear (I John 4:18). Yes!

Jesus is Love personified (I John 4:8). He is full of faith, and faith is the opposite of fear. Our love is sincere, and without offense (at man or God); filled with the fruits of righteousness, to the glory and praise of God (Phillipians 1:9-11).

Ask the LORD to help you choose His way. He will! He is good, and faithful forever!

22Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. 23They are new every morning; great isYour faithfulness! 24“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”Lamentations 3:23, Berean Study Bible
