“In that day
seven women…”
“In
that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, “We will eat our own
food and provide our own clothes; only let us be called by your name. Take away
our disgrace.” (Isaiah 4:1)
Isaiah the prophet was writing out his prophesies during the
eighth century, a time when Homer was writing “The Odyssey”. Isaiah’s
prophecies are extremely important and very Messianic. Many of his revelations
speak of the coming Christ and what would happen to Jesus. In Isaiah chapter
ch.4 we have a hint of the future Christian church.
In the New Testament the Christian church is likened to a
“woman” and also as the “bride of Christ”. In the New Testament book of Revelation,
we find Jesus giving counsel, through angels, to seven churches (Revelation
ch.2-3). Isaiah’s reference to “seven
women” is a prophecy for the Christian church in these last-days. The number
seven in the Bible is symbolic for “completion”. God does many things in seven.
Here, in Isaiah 4:1-6 we read of seven women who “take hold
of one man”, that man being Jesus Christ. All seven of these women represent
the Christian church going through seven epochs of time. Those who have studied
our messages regarding the seven churches mentioned in the book of Revelation
realize that these churches represent the church in completeness (past,
present, future) – the Seven Church Epochs.
All of these churches are given counsel in Revelation
ch.2-3. When we get to the last church, the church of Laodicea, we find that
the entire Christian church is in bad condition. It has grown complacent, lazy,
indifferent regarding the important things of God and “lukewarm” – no longer
excited about true faith.
In today’s world full of computer gadgets and AI technology
people have become extremely materialistic. As far as education goes, morality
is lost in a maze of “make-believe” psychology. Science is telling us about
extraterrestrials, U.F.O.’s, and AI threats. Where does the Christian church
stand with all of these issues? Study with us here at “The Shepherds Way &
Nugget of Truth”. We are talking about all of these important issues while many
denominations are off sleeping.
We note that these seven women only want to be called
“Christian” in name – but not in true belief and actions. We see this today.
Many are attending church for social gatherings, get togethers. Many churches
have music entertainment with worldly music, Christian rock, yelling,
screaming, shouting, applauding, and the sermons are self-esteem psychological
talks. Songs that repeat the same sentence over and over again. These are
people who are “Christian” only in name, but certainly not in practice. Many
talk of others in a bad way and gossip spreads throughout the church quickly.
Constant talking outload in the sanctuary. This is the sad condition of today’s
church.
Another problem is the fact of false doctrine being promoted
and what we have called being “theologically correct”. American churches today
have many false doctrines being taught and most Christians today do not even
know the true history of their own faith. If a Christian challenges something
said in church he or she is shunned, even though the Bible commands us to test
the doctrine.
Many want to be associated with the name “Christian” but do
not want the true gospel. These “seven women” want to “eat” their “own food”.
This is a reference to spiritual food. Many who attend some church read
everything but the word of God. They read psychological books and self-help
books – or the latest book on false prophecy to gain some kind of excitement.
Some even practice pagan teachings – this has become their “own food”.
These “seven women” also will “provide” their “own clothes”.
This means that they want their own righteousness, they wish to be accepted by
the fallen world and not be accepted by Jesus Christ and His righteousness.
True Christians are “clothed with the righteousness of Christ.” Finally, these
people say; “Only let us be called by thy name.” Again, Christian in name only,
not in true belief and faith. This is the sad condition of the Christian church
today.
While all of this is happening, the next verses are good
news. While the main condition of the Christian church is “spiritually asleep”
God promises “In that day [during the epoch of Laodicea] shall the Branch of the
Lord be beautiful and glorious” (Isaiah 4:2). Here is a reference to the true
“branch” of the Lord. True Christians are plugged into the “Branch”. God
promised; “I am bringing forth my servant the Branch.” (Zechariah 3:8; Isaiah
11:1; Jeremiah 33:15)
True Christians are “living branches” (Romans 11:17-24). We
understand that Jesus Christ is the ultimate branch. A branch is part of a tree
and the tree in this context (Isaiah 4:2) represents the restored Davidic
Kingdom, the coming millennial age. The John Class understands this coming
kingdom and has been proclaiming it, the sleeping church has not. Many
Christians today have not a clue about the seven dispensations and the coming 1000-year
reign of Jesus Christ and His saints on the restored Earth.
In Isaiah 4:3 God refers to “those left in Zion”, this is a
reference to those who come through the great tribulation period. These people
will “be called holy, all who are recorded living in Jerusalem.” Right now, the
true Christian church is indeed beautiful, clothed with the righteousness of
Jesus Christ and pure in its doctrine even though it is a “little flock” (Luke
12:32).
Right now, the last-day Christians are the “remnant” and are
figuratively Zion. Literal Zion will be the headquarters of the millennial
kingdom (Micah 4:1-5). Right now, God has His power over us like a protective
“cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night”. God is protecting
the Ancient Antiochene Church of God. God says of this special presence; “It
will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding
place from the storm and rain.” (Isaiah 4:6)
We invite you to join the John Class now and proclaim the
coming beautiful Kingdom of God.
