Christians
in the Midst of Chaos
Today
many people spend time looking for tragedies, television news, online news.
Society has begun to feed on terror. Why? Each person is dealing with his or
her own difficulties, outward and inward. It seems that many want to make sure
that others are suffering too. This way we don’t feel so isolated or strange.
It is sad that society no longer spends that much time looking for good news.
It is true that we should be aware of what is happening on
our planet. Watching the news is okay but we must have prayer and joy in our
lives. The Christian church meets together to worship and pray for family,
friends, and the world. Many spend much time talking about the troubles of
others and the problems of the planet but do nothing about it. The true
Christian is in prayer for many things. Prayer is powerful and healing. So is
true worship.
Today many have become insensitive and uncaring. They think
that this is a “strength”. Sadly, it is a weakness which leads to great
depression and mental issues. True healthy neural patterns begin to form in the
human brain by following the plan of God. Fellowship with other children of God
and worship and prayer. Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others when we
speak and how we live is healthy and important. As Christians we understand that
we have purpose and cause in the Revelation of the Divine Plan of God.
Today we have so much immediate information that if we do
not have a strong mental and spiritual foundation, we can become frustrated and lost in the chaos of information overload.
Lost in a storm of emotions. The television and internet news are constant with
“breaking news” stories. As Christians we should look for ways to begin to help
through prayer and balancing our own lives with healthy daily habits. Many
Christians from the Ancient Antiochene Church of God know the importance of
taking walks outside in pleasant places. Presbyter King has encouraged
Christians to get out once a day, if possible, for walking, reflecting, and
prayer.
If you cannot get out, find a silent place to relax and think about God and His goodness.
As Antiochene Christians we try and start our waking hour
with the morning prayer. We try and read our “small catechism” [Luther
Catechism] along with Scripture every day. We always say “table prayers” before
we eat anything. We also try and meditate on Scripture and healthy doctrine
from the “Book of Concord”. This is extremely important. We have meditation in
morning or at evening. We sit in a comfortable chair or couch. We close our
eyes and begin to relax in the presence of Christ and recall good memories and
things that we need to better understand.
It is extremely important for all Antiochene Christians to
begin to practice their faith daily in all that they do. At your work place
have a “time out” spot to talk with the Lord throughout your day. Todays fallen
world is constantly shifting and shaking. The Christian must find his or her
stability in the Rock of our faith, Jesus Christ and His Word.
Tragedies, both public and personal, become emotionally
overwhelming without the person of Jesus Christ in your life. Jesus Christ is a
real person that you can talk to. He is God in human form and understands the
true human condition. He is God in the flesh. Through the Holy Spirit he comes
into us to comfort us with the hope of his promises. God keeps all of His
promises when the world does not. As Ancient Antiochene Christians, we
encourage you to study our articles, messages, and lectures. Keep your Bible
with you at all times and get to know true Christians – your brothers and
sisters in Christ Jesus.
Learn to keep your eyes on Jesus. He is our everything. He
completely understands all who you are – your weaknesses, your sorrows, your
struggles, your anger, all of your sins. He knows and loves you. Learn his word
and begin to talk with him. He cares about you.
Stay with us here at “The Shepherds Way & Nugget of
Truth”.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

“Dear Lord, you
know all my ways. You know the content of my dreams at night. I do not always
understand but You do and You love me. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins,
my fallen human nature that I struggle with every day. As the night darkens
around me, I again come to You for Your gracious protection, firmly trusting
that You will keep me safe from all danger of body and soul. Grant me wisdom
and strength through Your Spirit to help others and care about the gift of life.
Thank you, Lord. In Jesus name. ~ Amen
