Sin, Evil, and the Antiochene Christian

By Presbyter King

Many Christians who study here have gotten confused over some of our profound statements regarding our Christian faith. One of those statements is: “For the “begotten” child of God (the True Christian) there is really no such thing as sin – the Christian has become saved. What  Good News this is for God’s true children.” To truly understand this statement, it must be taken in context. We do not mean that Christians no longer sin, and that they no longer need to ask for forgiveness – because they do.

What we mean is that to a truly “begotten child” of God they can have salvation assurance. In fact, apostle Paul says that positionally we are already seated with Christ at the right hand of the Father. (Colossians 1:13) The apostle John states: “Whoever has been born of God does NOT SIN, for His (Christ’s) seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” (1st John 3:9) Apostle John is not teaching that Christians do not struggle with sin, he is simply stating that to us, “Begotten children” of God there is no longer sin. Apostle John in the same letter states: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1st John 1:8)

As Christians we meditate on the fact that sin has been fully conquered through Jesus Christ our Lord and then associate with our New Nature, gifted to us by Christ. In this sense, there is no such thing as sin for us anymore. This is the mind-set that strengthens one not to sin, by no longer giving it any power.

God does not wish us to get caught up in this idea of extreme dualism, evil vs. good. Evil cannot have any power over true goodness. True goodness is eternal and comes from the mind of God, evil is a synthetic creation of fallen man. Atheists are materialists. They understand material substance as the beginning and end of all. Non-believers have the idea that if they can use and conquer material to bring them sense joy, they have “won the game”. This is the strong delusion of sin.

As material toys have increased, sin has increased at every level. The carnal mind believes that material science, minus spirituality, can some how conquer “sin” or “evil”. It is very interesting that even the so called “non-believer” has some kind of concept of good and evil, right and wrong. Why? The simple fact is, both exist in this fallen world. The question becomes, how do we find Paradise – a kingdom that works for all?

The Materialist defines death, war, sickness, etc. as “just the reality of life”, and so it has become. As fallen humans we wonder why these things must happen. We have a sense that things are not what they ultimately should be. All humans have the sense of sin in their fallen nature. We have physical bodies – we “have them”. What has them? Our spirit/soul has them. Our physical bodies with the rest of creation have become infected with sin. Religion, philosophy, and psychology have all tried to free us from sin.

The fact is, only our Creator can free us from this dilemma. Christianity has the Divine Revelation of the human condition. The Holy Scriptures record how Divine Intelligence has worked with humanity throughout ages and dispensations of time. God has raised us all up for the sake of becoming one of His own beloved children.  In Holy Scripture we find the Revelation of the Divine Plan.

Remember, evil and sin are not eternal. Only Truth, Love, and Proper Spiritual Understanding are eternal. We are here on planet Earth (fallen Eden) to overcome the sad conditions of our planet. We are not here to become “one” with materialism – this pantheistic idea is of the Devil.

As Christians we understand that even though all of creation has become infected by sin, God has left much beauty here for us to see Him. God has left much of Himself here, reflections of His true identity and Being. God calls on us to look for Him. God longs for us to truly seek Him. Families who have children begin to understand that we are created for Familial Relationship – ultimately in the God Family. Those who watch and love animals develop important relationships with other “created” creatures. Humans have a strong sense of nurturing and taking care of other things. This sense comes from Father God.

The Ancient Antiochene Church of God affirms that evil and sin are not eternal and that they have no power over God – Divine Intelligence. All things come to an end, and many things will come to a new beginning. Jesus Christ wants us to experience the New Beginning. He wants all of His children to enter the “coming Kingdom of God”. Eternal Life with the blessed Trinity -we will continue to grow throughout eternity with our Heavenly Parent.

I invite you to investigate our message, the Christian Message. See if it answers the questions of your heart and mind. I believe that Divine Help will give you true understanding of just what the Gospel of Jesus Christ truly is. In the mean time I will keep you all in my personal prayers.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
