Modern Zadokites rebuke Laodicea

Ancient Antiochene Christians today are the true Zadokites – “The Shepherds Way”

We read of the High Priest, Abiathar. He favored Adonijah who was a “son of David” that tried in vain to seize the Davidic throne. We read about the failure of Abiathar in 1^st Kings 2:26-27. After this Zadok became the proper High Priest.

One hundred years earlier God spoke of a more pure priest which would please Him. (1^st Samuel 2:35) Thus Abiathar became the victim of the old Eli curse. Through the prophet Ezekiel we find the promise that the “sons of Zadok” come near to the Lord and serve Him (Ezekiel 40:46).

In a typological sense Abiathar may represent the modern day Laodicean ministers who have tried to do things their way instead of the Lord’s way. The modern “sons of Zadok” are those who maintain a “clean priesthood” and honor the Lord. God has said; “But the priests, who are Levites and descendants of Zadok and who faithfully carried out the duties of my sanctuary when Israelites went astray from me, are to come near to minster before me; they are to stand before me to offer sacrifices of fat and blood, declares the Sovereign Lord. They alone are to come near my tables to minister before me and perform my service.” (Ezekiel 44:15-16)

God goes on to state that the “sons of Zadok “are to teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.” (Ezekiel 44:23) It is these faithful priests which are to teach. This is an object lesson for us today. A true minister is showing his congregation the warnings and counsels given to all Seven Churches in the book of Revelation (Revelation ch2 through ch3)

Again, God prophesied in 1^st Samuel 2:35 that He would bring forth a true and faithful priest to serve. Ultimately this is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Those faithful priests that serve God today are also the spiritual “sons of Zadok”. St. Peter says to the true Christians; “But you are a chosen people, a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1^st Peter 2:9)

Ancient Antiochene Christians today are the true Zadokites. We hold to Sola Scriptura above the traditions and false teachings of men.
