True Followers of the Way
We know that before we were called Christians we were called “followers of the Way”. (Isaiah 35:8-9; Acts 9:2; Acts 22:4) When brother and Apostle Barnabas arrived in Antioch he began to share the Gospel and noticed that many Gentiles hungered for Jesus Christ. (Acts 11:1-30)
He went back and got Peter and Paul. They all began to teach and preach in Antioch and this was the beginning of the first gentile centered church. They were first called “Christians” in Antioch. (Acts 11:26) As time went on, all the way up until the seventh bishop (head pastor) of Antioch, the church of Antioch held to the original teachings but began getting influenced by some false teachings coming in from the Christians of Alexandria Egypt.
In fact, a liberal school of Christianity began in Alexandria. It was highly influenced by pagan converts and intellectuals who were privy to the large pagan Alexandrian library. This was the beginning of the first and powerful apostasy. Many Greek influences from Stoic and Aristotelian/Platonic thought began their influence in regards to biblical hermeneutics.
As time went on we find that the Roman church took all of its false teachings from the Alexandrian school and was always, from early on, at odds with the school of Antioch. The Antiochene School stayed clear of many pagan influences - early on - due to its pure connection to the early Apostles.
This ministry (“The Shepherds Way” & “Nugget of Truth”) is a continuation of the original Antiochene School, teaching what the earliest followers of Christ taught. We document our teachings and our existence is proof that the true Church of Jesus Christ is still here, alive and well. Welcome to all visitors and true Christians who study here.
Resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ our Lord,
