The
Babylonian Cup & The Whirlwind Unfolded
“Thus
saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and
a great whirlwind shall be
raised up from the coasts of the earth.” (Jeremiah 25:32) –This article updated on

Some 100
years before King Cyrus was born God told Isaiah the prophet
that he would come. The Lord gave Isaiah the Prophet a detailed prophecy
regarding the event. God calls King Cyrus “a messiah” in the Hebrew language
(Isaiah 45:1; 44:28). The name Cyrus in Hebrew is “Koresh”.
Through
Jeremiah the prophet God stated that Israel would go into Babylonian captivity
for 70 years (Jeremiah 25:8-11) and after that Cyrus would come to deliver them
and allow them to rebuild their temple. This actually occurred, it all came to
pass and is recorded in our historical records.
When we read
Jeremiah chapter 25 we come all the way up to verse 11 and then God begins to
explain what will happen after Cyrus delivers Israel. Whenever we read Biblical
prophecy we understand that God will sometimes jump ahead, way into the future
going only from one paragraph to another. Starting in verse 11 of Jeremiah
chapter 25 we begin to read about a future judgment on geographical Babylon
and the entire
planet.
“But when the seventy years are
fulfilled, I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation, the land of
the Babylonians, for their guilt declares the Lord, and will make it desolate forever. I will bring upon that land all
the things I have spoken against it, all that are written in this book and
prophesied by Jeremiah against all the nations.” (Jeremiah 25:12-13)
There is
clearly a future “desolation” coming.
So now everything after these verses (12, 13) is a description of the future
event. God begins to inform Jeremiah that he is to figuratively go to all the
nations of the earth and make them “drink
from the cup” of God’s wrath. God takes the apostasy of Israel and all the
pagan nations and corrupt kingdoms and figuratively pours them into a chalice.
This is the “Babylonian Cup” which
represents the corruption that the world is getting spiritually “drunk” off of.
(Jeremiah 25:15-16).
This “Babylonian Chalice” will eventually be
handed over to the Antichrist
and his false church (Revelation 17:4). Right now the “kings of the earth” are drinking from this cup (Jeremiah 25:17-28).
This is creating the environment for the final Antichrist to appear (2
Thessalonians 2:8).
As the
politicians presently drink from this “Babylonian Chalice” the world becomes atheistic and extremely materialistic. As this “drinking”
increases a spiritual Whirlwind occurs.
“Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold,
evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the
earth.” (Jeremiah 25:32)
In this
prophecy God states; “I am calling down a sword upon all who live on the earth.”
(Jeremiah 25:29) This “sword” is His word. God uses His Word to judge.
(God’s “word” His sword: Eph. 6:17;
Heb. 4:12; Rev. 1:16)
Those who
reject God’s word will be “spiritually slain”. This means that
some people will remain “spiritually dead” - they will reject the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. We read about this;
“At that time those slain by the Lord
will be everywhere – from one end
of the earth to the other. They will not be mourned or gathered up or buried, but will be like refuse lying on the
ground.” (Jeremiah 25:33)
We
see that most of the planet will reject Jesus Christ. These “spiritually dead”
people will not be “mourned or gathered”, the church won’t miss them and they
will not be gathered at the rapture.
Nor will they be buried because they
will still be walking around. This is today’s world.
Sadly,
the last portion of this prophecy shows that all of this is happening while the
Christian Church is still here. Jeremiah chapter 25 verses 34 through 38 show
the miserable condition of the church. It says that their “pastures” and “meadows”
are “laid waste” (Jeremiah 25:36-37).
Through the
prophet Jeremiah God tells us that “in
the days to come” we would understand the “whirlwind” prophecy. “See, the
storm of the Lord will burst out in wrath, a whirlwind swirling down on
the heads of the wicked. The anger of the Lord will not turn back until he
fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart. In the days to come you will
understand it clearly.” (Jeremiah 23:19-20)
As the Bible
(The Scroll) unrolls, as Jesus Christ continues to reveal His word to us
through the Holy Spirit, God promises to give us a greater understanding of His
word before the Seven Year Tribulation. “In that day the deaf will hear the words of
the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.” (Isaiah 29:18)
So the
whirlwind prophecy is being revealed and once this is revealed unto us, what
will happen? “They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that
murmured shall learn doctrine.” (Isaiah 29:24)
In the past
much of the Bible was still “sealed”,
not yet understood, “but seal up the vision, for it concerns the distant
future.” (Daniel 8:26) In our time (the Ecclesiastical Dispensation) these
Biblical mysteries are being revealed to us. Jesus gave us the prophets to
study so that we would not be ignorant. “Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing
without revealing
his plan to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7)
“And we have
the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention
to it.” (2nd Peter 1:19) God said:”There are seven eyes on that one stone, and I will engrave an inscription on it,
(Create the Bible) says the Lord Almighty….” (Zechariah 3:9) “Above all, you
must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own
interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from
God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2nd
Peter 1:20-21)
We (the
Christian Church) have witnessed many prophecies already come to pass like
Israel becoming its own independent nation again in May (between May 1st & 14th) of 1948. This was an extremely important prophecy. If
Israel never became a nation again how could Jesus Christ come back to it? How
could He come back to an existing nation of Israel if one did not exist?
So it is
extremely important to understand just where the Christian Church stands on the
stage of prophetic
history. Prophecy is important because it keeps us up on our
feet. Knowing that anytime Jesus could come to claim His church keeps us awake, aware and alert to be in
the right mind, the “mind of Christ”. If Jesus returns for us we will be
changed in an instant and will be caught up to Him…if we die before He returns
we will still be guided by our angel to His throne. Whether we live or whether we die, we shall be with the Lord. ~
I hope all of
our studies here are richly blessing you. Jesus is Lord!
