Essenes & Nazareans
The Essenes (in greek: Ossaioi) were a strict Jewish sect that existed strongly in the first an second century. Jesus had contact with this group and our records show that John the Baptist was in fact related to Jesus Christ. John the Baptist was not an Essene but he was revered by the Essenes and agreed with some of their prophetic doctrines. They would listen to him speak and he did point to a certain prophecy regarding the coming of the Messiah which they agreed with.
Our records show that there was more than one group being called; "Essene". Also, the Nazareans (another contemporary Jewish sect) had concepts of the Messiah which were similar to the Essene's and very similar to the Samaritan view of the coming Taheb, the Restorer-prophet. However, the Samaritan Taheb is more like the Seventh Messenger - the one who comes with the last message to the Seventh (final) Church.
I will be posting new messages regarding some of this fascinating history. Stay with us here at TSW & Nugget of Truth.
It amazes me to watch some so called "Dr.s" of "theology" state such stupid things like; "The
Essenes were a Gnostic sect." Wrong! The designation gnosticism is a term of modern scholarship. It was first used by the English poet and philosopher of religion Henry More (1614–87). Also, there are those looking to excuse away sin with such fantastic stories.
Here at the "Ancient Antiochene Church of God" we document the truth about the Essenes and the sect that Jesus grew up around and in, the Nazareans. I urge you to watch my lectures regarding these very important historical facts. As Christians we should "get the facts straight" regarding these issues.
Please get your Bible and study with us! Begin with a lecture that catches your attention. I hope to have more lectures posted soon regarding the issue of how the New Testament came together. I know that you will find these talks very interesting.
