The pagan
religions have talked about developing your “inner awareness” and
your “inner
powers”. Do Christians have supernatural awareness and
skills? Indeed they do! Our strength comes from GOD! I would like you to take a deeper look at what the Holy Scriptures refer to as “The Armor of
God”.
Your Belt of Truth
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that
when that day of evil comes,
you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to
stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth
buckled around your waist,…..”
We will now
reveal the Ancient Antiochene Christian
hidden meaning of this spiritual armor of which Apostle Paul talks about. Apostle Paul is
using metaphoric and anthropologic language to explain the inner
relationships with your thoughts, emotions and body. This spiritual armor, of which Paul is referring to, is
the understanding of how your spiritual relationship affects your physical
reality.
The belt goes
around the “waist” area of the body. This is the area midway between the navel
and the base of the spine. Our inner organs of reproduction and elimination
reside in this area. It also involves our Solar Plexus area. This is the area where we receive
“gut feelings”. For the Christian the Holy
Spirit will sometimes send warning messages (gut feelings) and these
are in fact spiritual impressions and
impulses that we need to learn to
listen to. This is for our safety thus it is part of our spiritual discernment –
our spiritual belt.
The Holy Spirit will always point you to where Jesus is and to proper doctrine!
Also this “spiritual belt” reminds us to use our reproductive
organs properly and in a healthy manner. This area also has to do with what
we put into our bodies. To make sure that the “belt” properly fits we need to
be eating the good food from God's Word.
We need to take care of our “temples”
(bodies) and thank God for our health every day.
Forgiveness through prayer with God keeps this area clean, safe, and strong every day.
Give a Decree knowing you have the
Holy Spirit “belt” on to help guide you.
I am forgiven – by the
Love of God
I am washed – by the
Love of God
I am sealed – by the
Love of God
I am saved – by the
Love of God
God is Friendship, God
is Love, God is Truth.
Your Breastplate of
Righteousness
“….with the breastplate of
righteousness in place,…”
This “spiritual breastplate” goes over the whole
chest area. It is said that our deepest emotions
dwell in our hearts. Our chests are said to be “the hub of life”. Our thoughts and emotions affect how our heart beats.
We thus
connect emotions to the chest or heart area. To protect this area we “wear”
the “breastplate” of Christ’s righteousness,
not our own (Romans
3:20-23). We have no righteousness but “self-righteousness”. To live in self-righteousness is to not be wearing the “breastplate of
righteousness”.
We do not
even know our own hearts (Jeremiah 17:9-10).
The Bible says that “only God knows
the heart” of each individual. We thus need to keep pride out of our hearts.
The air from our chest which we use to form words also comes “from the heart”
through our throats so this breastplate
armor also should help control what comes
out of our mouths (James 3:2-8).
Jesus Christ
needs to be on “the
throne of our hearts” directing with the pure love and not the
selfish love that always gets in the way. Keeping Christ on the inner throne will
also protect you. You will begin to understand that it is the “thoughts and
emotions” which keep the armor of God charged
or weakened. To keep our armor
on and charged we need to “think on good things” (Philippians 4:8-9).
As Christians
we learn that God
is a God of relationship so we begin to see how our spiritual
life affects everything. Our thoughts
and feelings create our experience of life. By properly focusing our
thoughts and emotions we can let God have His way in our lives. Divine Intelligence wants what’s best for
you, why not let Him help guide you?
Focusing our thoughts on Christ produces
compassion. Compassion
must come from the deepest part of our hearts, the compassion of Jesus Christ
toward God and our neighbor.
Your Feet Readiness
“…and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the
gospel of peace.”
Your feet
take you places; they represent the fact
that you have motion. All of
our motions need to be working for the Kingdom of
God. The Bible declares; “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who
bring Good News, who proclaim peace, who brings good tidings, who proclaim
salvation, who say to Zion, Your God reigns!” (Isaiah 52:7)
Your feet and
your hips support and help control your spinal cord,
especially the base of the spinal column.
It is said that the “unsaved”
use their legs as “roots”,
getting their energy from material creation - where as the “saved” person is more like an upside-down tree, with his or her brain neurons
being the roots which draw their sustenance from upward, from Divine Intelligence. Christians feed
from the Living Word of God. They
let their feet and arms reach out like “branches” to help save the lost (John 15:1-8). We declare and produce the good fruit,
“the Gospel of Peace”. The “fruit of the
Spirit” is love,
joy,
peace,
patience,
kindness,
goodness,
faithfulness,
gentleness
and self control
(Galatians 5:22).
Our feet
are the point where we touch the physical world; the limbs of our body give us the
ability to work and to “create”.
By becoming conscious of how we
are moving through life – we will be able to keep on the Amor of God.
Your Shield of Faith
“…In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,
with which you can extinguish all the
flaming arrows of the evil one….”
A shield is something that you can direct
to protect you, to
protect your space. To the ancient Christians this protection
shield was pictured as a Tube of Light
that descends from the presence of Divine Intelligence
[God] and surrounds your body. We have
records of early Christians speaking of this “white
light”. In the Old Testament it is described as the “pillar of cloud” by day and a “pillar of fire” by night which guided
ancient Hebrew’s when they journeyed through Israel. It also appeared as a “white cloud”
which surrounded Jesus on the Mt. Transfiguration.
Just because
you cannot always see this in the physical reality does not mean that it is not
there, for the true Christian it is there
and operative.
Jesus says to
us; “So let your light shine”
meaning, do the works of Christ. Living our faith is to be surrounded by the “shield
of faith” or the “white light”.
Having
protective space means also protecting your Personal Boundaries. Know what
your limits are, try and understand what “crosses
your threshold” and stand back from it, do not let it into your sacred
space. If it comes into your space pray for the Holy Spirit to transmute the
wrong feelings and actions into the good of God.
As Christians
we live out our principles through having healthy boundaries.
What are “healthy boundaries”? Those
which are in agreement with the WILL and WORD of God are healthy boundaries. We should not compromise our faith. It is
okay to be angry without hitting somebody or something. We must have our
complete spiritual armor on and Holy Spirit discernment to move properly
throughout all the situations of life.
Reading and understanding God’s word properly will help you shape your boundaries according to the will of God.
Your Helmet of Salvation
“…Take the helmet of salvation….”
The helmet protects
your head, your mind – your mental state.
It protects your sight – your vision to fight. God has given all humans some degree
of intuition, and inner knowing about
things. This gift has been anciently referred to as “the
third eye”. The Christian has an even finer tuned “third eye” because of the indwelling - the Holy Spirit. We begin to consciously mold
and shape our characters with the Mind of Christ.
A good
fighting helmet allows good vision and good protection. Good vision allows one to recognize sin…and when
circumstances may be warning you to leave a specific environment. The “spiritual helmet” will allow you to think Static Truth in all of your decisions and
give you proper spiritual vision through the “third eye”. Jesus instructs us to keep this single spiritual eye on
Him. Jesus said; “The eye
[spiritual eye] is the lamp of the body. If your [spiritual] eyes are good,
your whole body will be full of LIGHT.” (Matthew
6:22)
Salvation in Jesus Christ protects the spiritual head, thus it is the Helmet of Salvation.
The Sword of the Spirit
“…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the
word of God.”
This is
the most powerful tool, the Almighty Word
of God. We
must keep our “spiritual swords” sharp and
clean. This we do by studying the Word of
God and knowing what we believe
in and why we believe in it. Those
who study here at “The Shepherds Way” & “Nugget of Truth” have a great understanding, I hope, of God’s
precious word. We use it carefully, respectfully, and humbly.
It is with the Word [Sword]
of God that we combat false doctrine,
false teachings and practices. We do not let our emotions
fill in the “blanks” of God’s word nor do we let emotions distract us from or
change the Word of God.
We recite
from the Scriptures every day. We have seen the promises of God’s word
fulfilled and we continue to trust in all the promises of God. Jesus responded
every time to Satan with; “It is written…”
Jesus is our example of where to go to find all the answers. (Matthew 4:1-22)
Finally, the Power of Prayer
Prayer is a mighty weapon at the disposal of every man or woman who loves God, and knows His son Jesus Christ. ... Prayer also energizes the heart of a believer through the power of the Spirit. Consistent prayer also releases the power of God's blessing on your life and circumstances.
Do you have Your Armor
On?
Jesus Christ
himself was girded with this armor and now through Apostle Paul, God instructs
all of His children to wear this Holy Armor.
So let it be.
Your Crown is being
Built
Though your “spiritual crown” is not mentioned in
Apostle Paul’s description of the “armor of God” (because most wouldn’t wear
their crown to battle) he does talk about the crown of the believers. These spiritual
crowns are being built by you – by you fulfilling your call in the plan of God.
These crowns
will no doubt be our NEW GLORIFIED MINDS. Our new characters in Christ
personified!
Crowns sit on your head, where you think and discern. Rewards for the true children of God are depicted as “crowns” in the New
Testament:
1-The Crown of Life (James 1:12; Revelation 2:10)
2-The Crown of Glory (1st Peter 5:2-4)
3-The Crown of Rejoicing (1st Thessalonians 2:19-20)
4-The Crown of Righteousness (2nd Timothy 4:8)
5-The Crown Incorruptible (1st Corinthians 9:25-27; 1st John
2:28)
Our
individual “crown”, new mind and
character, will be made up through our personal walk with the Lord. Each “crown”
will be special and individual. You are indeed
a “one of a kind”. We each receive our rewards at the “Bema judgment”. All Christians will receive
glorified bodies
at the resurrection of the Saints.
I pray that
you are there,
Eric William King
