Democrats, Republicans, and Christians
Democrats,
Republicans, and Christians. Yikes! Sounds like war already. People have asked
us (The Ancient Antiochene Church of God) what our stance is regarding
political parties. As true Christians, we actually have no “stance” regarding
these issues other than we are to render to “Creaser” what belongs to Creaser,
and to God what belongs to God. We could simply end this article on that note.
As Christians we are commanded by the New Covenant to
respect sound government, a government which allows freedom of religion and
peaceful worship. The Constitution of the United States is highly honored by
true Christians. America has been blessed in many ways because of
Christian-Judaic codes of law. Good morals make a good government.
We believe that each individual Christian should make his or
her own personal choice when voting for government officials, both local and
national. It’s also okay not to vote. As Christians we believe that morality is
key in our choice. We would always, of course, choose to vote for somebody that
upholds Biblical morals and values. Any government that would continue to allow
us, as Christians, to share our beliefs peacefully and worship peacefully is
preferred.
As true Christians we leave politics, for the most part, out
of our theological discussions. We do not believe in getting overly involved
with the things of this fallen world. If Christian persecution arises, then of
course we become more outspoken. For the most part, we understand that our true
Kingdom is not of this fallen world. We do not get overly upset at voting turn
outs – we keep our expectations properly understood through sound Biblical
doctrine.
We believe in obeying the good laws of the nation and paying
our taxes. We do not get involved in protests or yelling and screaming.
Animalistic behavior solves nothing.
We believe that this planet and all governments are headed
toward a final end. We believe that Jesus Christ is our true ruler and King. We
believe that Jesus Christ will ultimately return and set up His kingdom and
that all worldly kingdoms will be destroyed. In Christ’s Kingdom all sciences
and technology shall be used properly – to glorify God and for the betterment
of all humanity.
We believe that this planet will someday soon be rebuilt by
the Elect of God and that there will be 1000 years of true peace under the
complete leadership of Jesus Christ. The Christian Church is training souls to
work, teach, heal, and help when that time comes. True Christians are children
of God involved directly in the Divine Plan of the Ages.
Today’s news is full of accounts of disruption on all
levels. Many people feel like they are not being heard through all of the
chaos. This makes things extremely frustrating. As Christians we know that God
hears us and we remain in prayer for the world governments and leaders. Many
people today experience health problems, family problems, and depression
because of all the political stress. As Christians we believe that God relieves
us of these many problems through prayer and Christian fellowship. We keep our
eyes on Jesus and we have a greater hope.
We invite those who do not know Jesus Christ to get to know
Him. Health problems, financial problems, and family problems can destroy many
things. True Christianity has brought healing on all levels to us and we cannot
help but want to share what we have with others. Many people want things to
happen the way they feel is best and some Christians get caught in the trap of
praying for things that they think would be right but are not. We believe that we must trust God and that
His ways are always correct and that our ways are not always right or proper.
We understand God’s ways through proper study of Holy Scripture and
participating in the “body of Christ” – His true church.
To pray for what is right is to ask for God’s help. As
Christians we are told to love our enemies and pray for those who disagree with
God and his ways. We should stay away from hating this or that political party
– instead, we should pray for God’s way and God’s peace. Many people feed off
of “this” or “that” news source and get caught up in the duality trap and hyper
polarity. People feel forced to “take sides” with this or that group. As
Christians we should always take sides with the Truth (God) – no matter who
speaks it.
God’s law of love is the most important. We learn about
God’s true love through the person of Jesus Christ. A true Christian is
somebody who believes in and follows Jesus Christ. It’s really that simple.
We hope that this has helped to answer the question regarding
our stance on these issues. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
