Christians
and Kindness
True
kindness is not something that we simply perform “just because”. True kindness
comes through the converted heart. We could describe kindness as “undeserved
curtesy” or unselfish love. By showing kindness to family and friends we gain a
genuine friendship. Christians develop kindness even with strangers. We may
open a door for somebody or help carry something for another.
Unfortunately, not all people respect acts of kindness from
another. We should not be discouraged. If our motive to show kindness is pure,
then we have done the right thing regardless. Do not let rude people get you
down. As Christians we understand that everybody has a spirit and soul. They
are not just the human body. The spirit senses true kindness from the soul.
We must not be afraid when we understand that the Holy
Spirit may be asking us to help in some way. It is good to learn how to become
a blessing to others. By our actions, our words, our thoughts and so forth we
show genuine kindness as Spirit filled Christians. Life doesn’t always “behave”
the way that we wish it should. Don’t stop being kind and thankful.
When another offers you and act of kindness always be
thankful. Do not take it for granted. Kind people usually attract kind-people.
Being kind to others is also a “spiritual medicine”. We become “spiritual
doctors” in this sense. Proverbs 31:26 (KJV): “She openeth her mouth with
wisdom; and her tongue is the law of kindness.”
As Christians we learn this spiritual “law of kindness”.
Godly kindness will help govern our thoughts and actions. Kindness does not
just involve material objects. True kindness is found in your speech, your
mannerisms, and all that you do. True kindness is also unselfish. Jesus taught
us this in His words and deeds. We should develop a good personality by being conscious of others around us. By reading the Word of God everyday we learn the
right behavior in all things. We must put to practice the “law of kindness”
every day.
When we receive correction from others let us show respect
with gratitude and kindness for learning something new. True kindness is never
proud. Jesus tells us: “Do unto others what you would have them do for you.”
How do you like to be treated? We all ultimately “reap what we sow”.
Always be kind, even when it is difficult.
Harmony amongst friends and family always follows acts of
true kindness. Be thankful everyday for the gifts that God gives you. Take
nothing for granted and always, always be kind to one another.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
