Our
Antiochene Christian Confessions
At
the Ancient Antiochene Church of God we accept our creeds and confessions as
historic Christian documents. These articles of faith have helped protect the
true teachings of Christianity for hundreds of years and have exposed the Roman
Church as the false machine that it is. Our documents are authoritative
expressions of proper and pure theology.
During the Reformation period it was extremely important to
properly express our faith with precision. Sadly, most all so called
“Protestant” churches today have abandoned the good confessions and thus they
have forgotten the true history of their own faith. This has allowed for even
more error and bad theology to develop throughout the years.
A good confessional Protestant faith cements the importance
of healthy and true Christianity. The ancient Jewish confession of faith is a
portion of Scripture called the “Shema”. God’s people also used ancient Psalms
to proclaim aspects of their faith. These short statements of faith were easy
to remember and help give stability to the unity of the faith. This is why we
also understand the importance of a liturgical faith. At the Ancient Antiochene
Church of God we use a liturgical style of worship that has been handed down
since apostolic times. Conservative Lutheran churches still hold to this proper
liturgical worship.
St. Irenaeus and St. Tertullian mention the importance of
“the Rule” and or “Canon” of faith. They understood the importance of teaching
through repetitive statements of faith. There was not a lot of books that you
could just grab off the shelf back then and the Bible was not yet a printed
book. Faith statement were extremely important to maintain the purity of
Christian faith.
Great councils of the early church were called to carefully
proclaim consistent declarations of Christian doctrine. The basics of Christian
faith were taught through Catechisms. The Ancient Antiochene Church of God
still teaches this was today.
True Protestants accept in fullness the “Book of Concordia”.
This is the first and truest Protestant documentation of faith and Catechism. Today
many people do not even call themselves “Protestants” and they have no unifying
creed or confession. Hence, the mass confusion of denominationalism has
developed over the past centuries and continues to split the Christian faith
into fighting factions.
In ending these important thoughts for you all to
contemplate, we must realize that being a true Christian doesn’t just mean that
you believe in the Bible. Being a true Christian means that you also know and
believe in what the Bible actually teaches. To claim that you have no “creed”
and just believe in the Bible is simply not true. If you were told to take a
piece of paper and list ten things that you understand about your Christian
faith you probably could. This is your creed.
All Christians have some type of theology. Remember,
Christian creeds and confessions give precise summaries of what the true
Christian church believes as a whole. If you claim to be a Christian, we hope
that you actually take time out to learn what the First Church actually held to
