A Sacramental Life
To us [Ancient
Antiochene Christians] we try and live what is called a “sacramental
life”. This means that we try and remember our baptism and
its benefits every day. We understand our becoming children of God; we
became sealed with His Spirit. Living a sacramental life also means
participating in Holy Communion.
Perhaps we remember
a personal account in our life with the Creator - moments when
you realized the fact of His presence. Our entire life becomes an
act of Christian Confirmation. We confirm our faith every day. To
live a sacramental life means to have a life of prayer and meditation on
the Word of God.
A sacramental life
is life spent with wife and God and with
children and God if you have a family. Of course if you have an
animal or two, precious Godly time spent with them is very important also.
To experience an
ever deepening faith in our Lord means to be growing. Our entire life becomes a
sacrament of Christian maturity. Holy
Communion brings us even closer to our Lord. We remember His life, death,
and resurrection. We remember that He took all of
our sins upon Himself. Even His sinless physical life is received in the
sacrament and we are fully sanctified through and in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Word truly “became
flesh”. “He was in the world, and though the world was made through
him, the world did not recognize him.” (John 1:10) He
comes to us a special way every communion yet still, many do not recognize Him.
Also, your baptism
is always something that you can return to, it
lasts forever. Just as a person in young adulthood may turn from his faith
into all sorts of sin so may a person who was infant baptized but when you were
baptized you partook of a Holy Sacrament that never goes away.
Though we sometimes may walk away from God….He never walks away from us. He is
always there for you. All you need to do is put your faith back in Him.
So to live a
sacramental life is to “practice the presence” of God everyday in
your life. You will always be glad because your best friend is with you at all
times.
May God become
the center of your life -
